More Child-Care Spaces for Lunenburg

Families in Lunenburg will benefit from more early learning and child-care spaces opening in their community.
The Lunenburg Day Care Centre is receiving about $4.5 million to help it expand, allowing for 77 new child-care spaces.
“The Lunenburg Day Care Centre has been a valued part of this community since 1973, supporting generations of children and families,” said Susan Corkum-Greek, Minister of Opportunities and Social Development and MLA for Lunenburg, on behalf of Brendan Maguire, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. “This expansion builds on that strong foundation, creating more opportunities for children to learn and grow in a supportive, inclusive environment through play, exploration and creativity. Investments like this are helping ensure more Nova Scotia families can access the high-quality child care they need to live, work and thrive in their communities.”
The expanded centre, at 26 Lincoln St., is expected to open in July 2027 with an additional 10 infant spaces, 54 toddler spaces and 13 preschool spaces, for a total of 190 spaces.
Project funding is through the Canada-Nova Scotia Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, which supports the vision that families have access to affordable, high-quality and inclusive child care when and where they need it.
