Premier to Begin Summer Tour
Premier Tim Houston will spend the next several weeks speaking to Nova Scotians across the province about the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“There is so much opportunity in Nova Scotia, and I’m extremely optimistic about the future. Yes, Nova Scotia is in a difficult fiscal position with a $1.24-billion deficit, and we still need to make major investments in affordability, healthcare, long-term care and education. But the good news is we have tremendous opportunities ahead in defence, wind, energy and local businesses who are ready to take the world stage,” said Premier Houston. “I’m looking forward to talking to Nova Scotians this summer about the opportunities they see ahead, and the challenges they want us to focus on.”
He will speak to chambers of commerce and visit with Nova Scotian business owners in July and August. Scheduled events open to the media are as follows:
- Wednesday, July 15 – Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce
- Thursday, July 16 – Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce
- Tuesday, July 28 – Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce
- Wednesday, July 29 – Pictou County Chamber of Commerce
- Tuesday, August 4 – Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce
- Wednesday, August 12: Strait Area Chamber of Commerce
- Thursday, August 13 – Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
A separate public engagement process, run by the Department of Finance and Treasury Board and specific to the 2027-28 budget, will take place in the fall. Details will be shared with Nova Scotians when they are available.
