More than 1,600 additional Nova Scotia households will be able to access free energy efficiency upgrades and reduce their energy bills through investments from the federal and provincial governments.

The $26 million total investment will expand the HomeWarming program and the African Nova Scotian Communities Retrofit Program.

Delivered by EfficiencyOne, these programs make it easier for more low and moderate income households to benefit from energy-saving improvements such as insulation, air sealing and heat pumps.

“We’re making it easier for more Nova Scotians to get the upgrades they need to lower their energy costs,” said Marco MacLeod, Minister of Energy. “These programs help people use less energy, pay less each month, and live in healthier, more comfortable homes. The continued investment in these programs builds on Nova Scotia’s commitment to improving affordability across the province.”

Efficiency upgrades supported by these programs can significantly reduce energy use while improving indoor comfort and air quality.

The African Nova Scotian Communities Retrofit Program continues to provide culturally responsive services and targeted support to historically underserved communities, ensuring equitable access to energy efficiency upgrades.
