The Progress Pride flag was raised at Province House in Halifax today, June 26, to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and reaffirm the government’s commitment to advancing inclusion, respect and belonging for all Nova Scotians.
The flag recognizes transgender, racialized and intersex people, and those living with HIV/AIDS. The triangle shape symbolizes the progress that is still needed for equity and inclusion.
“As we mark Pride Month, we recognize the strength, resilience and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Nova Scotia,” said Attorney General and Justice Minister Scott Armstrong, Minister responsible for the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism. “Pride is both a celebration of progress and a reminder of the work ahead to continue building a province where discrimination, exclusion and hate have no place, and where everyone feels like they belong.”
The Province’s first 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan was released earlier this year. It provides a road map to advance equity, improve access to services and supports, and build safer, more inclusive communities across the province.
