Exemplary Service Medals Awarded
The Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal was awarded to paramedics at Government House today, October 21, in recognition of their long-standing dedication to the health, safety and well-being of Nova Scotians. (Office of the Lieutenant-Governor)

Thirty-one paramedics were awarded Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medals today, October 21.
The recipients have dedicated their careers to providing care to people in their time of greatest need, sometimes at their own personal risk. The medal is a national honour in recognition of their long-standing dedication to the health, safety and well-being of Nova Scotians.
“The individuals recognized this year demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the health and safety of all residents,” said Lt-Gov. Mike Savage. “Because of their selfless acts, Nova Scotians receive care and compassion in moments that are fraught with uncertainty and fear. Their work saves lives and contributes to the well-being of our communities.”
The Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal is part of a national recognition program for people who work in high-risk jobs that enhance Canada’s public safety. Thirty-one medals were awarded Tuesday, October 21. (Office of the Lieutenant-Governor)
Emergency Medical Services professionals can be nominated for the medal by their peers or the public. Recipients must have demonstrated exemplary service in their careers for at least 20 years, including 10 years in an emergency medical services position that involves risk.
