The wildfire in the Lake George area of Kings County, near Aylesford, covers an estimated 250 hectares and has forced the evacuation of about 350 homes and cottages. Firefighters from the Department of Natural Resources, local volunteer firefighters, planes from Northwest Territories and Newfoundland and Labrador, contracted helicopters, heavy equipment operators and other agencies are all part of the firefighting effort. The photos below were taken Thursday, October 2.
