Tender Awarded for QEII Health Sciences Centre Master Planning

The next stage in planning for future healthcare needs at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax will soon be underway.
International firm BDP Quadrangle and partner FBM Architecture Ltd. of Halifax have been awarded the contract to develop a master plan for the QEII, which includes 10 buildings at two sites.
The firms will work closely with Nova Scotia Health, Build Nova Scotia and the Department of Health and Wellness to review existing buildings and services, identify opportunities for improvements and modernization, and align the plan with provincial healthcare priorities.
“We continue to invest in healthcare infrastructure that supports sustainable, high-quality care,” said Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson. “Master planning is a foundational step toward understanding the potential projects to support modernizing healthcare infrastructure, meeting the evolving needs of Nova Scotians.”
It is expected that BDP Quadrangle, which has expertise in healthcare design, and FBM will complete their work in early 2027. This initiative is part of the Province’s More, Faster: The Action for Health Build strategy that will produce a comprehensive, multi-site plan to guide the modernization, optimization and potential expansion of the QEII.
