Kentville Opens Upgraded Pool With Support From Province
The Kentville Memorial Pool has opened for the summer following major upgrades made possible through a $500,000 investment from the Province.
The funding supported critical repairs to the facility, including deck replacement, plumbing upgrades, waterproofing and resurfacing. These improvements ensure the pool can continue to offer safe, inclusive recreation for people of all ages.
“For 65 years, this pool has been a place for families, swimmers and neighbours to come together,” said John Lohr, Minister of Finance and Treasury Board and MLA for Kings North, who spoke at the pool’s reopening ceremony today, July 12, on behalf of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage Minister Dave Ritcey. “These upgrades will make sure the Kentville Memorial Pool remains a place where residents can stay active and connect with one another for years to come.”
The pool serves the wider Kings County area with public swims, swim lessons and aquafit classes. It is also home to the Kentville Marlins swim team.
Quotes:
“We’re incredibly grateful for the Province’s support in helping us revitalize this beloved community space. When you think about how long the Kentville Memorial Pool has been here – over 60 years – and how many people have learned to swim and enjoyed this very pool, it’s clear just how important it is to the Town of Kentville and the community. It’s been the backdrop for countless summer memories, and these much-needed upgrades mean we can welcome swimmers of all ages and abilities back to a safer and modern facility.”
