Senior Leadership Appointments at Invest Nova Scotia
Crown corporation Invest Nova Scotia will put a stronger focus on attracting strategic, large-scale investments to better leverage the province’s global shipping routes, supportive environment, streamlined regulatory processes and skilled labour force.
This will include rigorous, specific emphasis on key sectors such as defence, wind and other renewable energy, fisheries, agriculture, forestry and critical mineral resource development.
Two new appointments will help Invest Nova Scotia seize economic opportunities:
- Chris Morrissey, Deputy Minister of Growth and Development, will also become CEO of Invest Nova Scotia. Mr. Morrissey worked in the private sector before joining government and has demonstrated experience in leadership, business development and project management.
- Wayne Crawley will serve as Executive Chair and lead work on the renewed mandate. He has extensive experience in business development and operations and previously helped the government transition former Crown corporations to Build Nova Scotia.
Next steps will include recruiting for the position of chief financial officer and additional senior executive positions related to investment attraction in the industries above, with an initial emphasis on the defence sector and wind-generated electricity.
