Children and young adults can enjoy free or reduced admission this summer to all provincial museums and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia as part of the Canada Strong Pass.
“This program opens the door for more families and young people to discover Nova Scotia,” said Dave Ritcey, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “Whether it’s seafaring and shipwrecks, striking art exhibitions or life in a 19th-century village, these experiences invite travellers to slow down, look closer and discover what makes our province unique.
From today, June 20, to Tuesday, September 2, children aged 17 and under will receive free admission to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and all 28 sites of the Nova Scotia Museum. People aged 18 to 24 will receive 50 per cent off admission fees.
The Canada Strong Pass was announced earlier this week by the federal Department of Canadian Heritage. The Province is supporting the program through participation at provincial sites. There is no physical or virtual pass to present, and the benefits apply to all visitors, regardless of citizenship. Young people only need to visit participating sites to receive the benefits.
The federal initiative also includes free or reduced youth admission to national galleries and museums, such as the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, as well as free admission for all ages to Parks Canada’s national parks and historic sites.
