Site Selected for New School in Sydney Mines
The government is making progress on bringing a new school to Sydney Mines with site selection now complete.
The new Northside middle school, which will replace Sydney Mines Middle School, will be built next to Memorial High School in Sydney Mines.
“With the site selected, our government has taken an important step towards building a new school for Sydney Mines,” said Public Works Minister Fred Tilley. “The new Northside middle school will support the next generation of students in this community and a brighter future for our province.”
The departments of Public Works and Education and Early Childhood Development worked on the site selection, which included detailed evaluations of land options and community feedback.
The new school will now advance to the design phase. This will include a steering team with parents, community members and school staff who will provide input on the design.
The Northside middle school will have room for 260 students.
