Lieutenant-Governor Recognizes Excellence in Public Administration

David Burton, former regional director general of the Department of Canadian Heritage, and Laura Lee Langley, former clerk of the executive council for the Province of Nova Scotia, are receiving the 2024 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration today, March 20, at Government House in Halifax.

The medal is awarded annually to a person in public administration who exhibits the highest standard of excellence, dedication and accomplishment.

“I am happy to congratulate Laura Lee Langley and David Burton on receiving the Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration. Their dedication has strengthened governance, improved public policy and enriched communities across Nova Scotia,” said Lt.-Gov. Mike Savage. “Ms. Langley’s leadership in innovation, transparency and inclusion has set a high standard for public administration. Mr. Burton’s collaborative approach and advocacy have made a lasting impact on Atlantic Canada’s public service and cultural landscape. Their achievements are truly inspiring, and I am honoured to recognize their contributions.”

The prestigious award is presented annually by the lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia, who serves as its patron. It is sponsored by consulting firm Davis Pier and is administered by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) Nova Scotia.
