Residents of Halifax Regional Municipality will benefit from a new community centre in Sambro thanks to provincial funding.

Brendan Maguire, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development and MLA for Halifax Atlantic, announced the funding today, March 12, on behalf of Dave Ritcey, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

“Strong communities are built on shared spaces where people can come together,” said Minister Maguire. “This investment will ensure residents have a modern, inclusive space to be active, share experiences and build lasting connections.”

The Sambro and Area Community Association is receiving $3 million to develop the new community centre, which will provide an accessible space for sports, recreation, meetings and educational activities.

The building will integrate green energy practices and will be able to host 200-300 people for community events.
