Funding Supports Community Organizations in Victoria County
Residents of Victoria County will benefit from improvements to recreation and arts spaces through provincial grants to three community organizations.
“A thriving community relies on ensuring access to recreation, culture and physical activity for everyone,” said Keith Bain, MLA for Victoria-The Lakes, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “Investing in our communities strengthens vital infrastructure and benefits residents for years to come.”
The North Highlands Nordic Ski Club, located in Cape North on the Cabot Trail, received a grant to purchase a new snow groomer. The club maintains 12 kilometres of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and has hosted several major national and regional ski events.
The Smokey Recreational Society in Ingonish Beach received funding to upgrade the Victoria Playground with accessible mobility devices and ramps. This community-focused organization offers a variety of outdoor recreational programs and facilities for all ages.
Theatre Baddeck will use its grant to transform the Greenwood United Church into a multi-functional performance venue.
