Funding for Recreation Facility in Hants County
Residents of Hants County will see enhancements to the Gordon Hughes Tennis Club in Windsor with a provincial grant.
“This investment is another reminder of government’s commitment to promoting physical activity for Nova Scotians,” said Hants West MLA Melissa Sheehy-Richard, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “Tennis players of all ages will benefit from newly levelled, resurfaced and lined courts for many years to come.”
The facility, also known as the Windsor Tennis Club, has been in operation since 1978.
The grant is part of a series of announcements taking place across the province.
Quotes:
“The Gordon Hughes Tennis Club is very appreciative of the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage for financially supporting the repairing and resurfacing of our tennis courts. Tennis has played a huge role in the lives of many in the Windsor-West Hants area for over a century and continues to thrive in meeting the recreational, competitive, social and health needs of so many in our community. Restoring the playing surface of the courts is essential so we can safely offer instructional programs and competitive and recreational participation for years to come.”
