Bridgewater residents will benefit from upgrades to a community facility, an outdoor pool and a playground, plus experience a new cultural program with provincial grants announced today, September 9.

“Successful communities thrive when residents have opportunities to be active and connect with each other,” said Becky Druhan, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development and MLA for Lunenburg West, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “That is why we are investing in community infrastructure upgrades to provide recreational activities, cultural experiences and lifelong learning programs for everyone to enjoy.”

The Town of Bridgewater received funding to enhance safety at the O'Regan's Subaru Outdoor Pool, host monthly sessions celebrating various cultural groups, upgrade the Pinecrest Park playground and improve washroom accessibility at the DesBrisay Museum.

These community grants are part of a series of announcements taking place across the province.

Quotes:

“We are thrilled that the Province of Nova Scotia is partnering with Bridgewater to fund these four important projects in our community. These initiatives will directly benefit not only our residents, but also the 30,000-plus people who come to Bridgewater from across the region every single day to work, to shop and to play. We’re especially excited about the forthcoming upgrades at the O’Regan’s Subaru Outdoor Pool, which will include the installation of a new accessible ramp before next swimming season. This funding will be utilized to support additional accessible public infrastructure enhancements throughout Bridgewater.”
David Mitchell, Mayor, Town of Bridgewater
