New water systems will provide reliable water supply and enhance fire protection in Oxford, Cumberland County.

“Oxford is a wonderful place to live and work, with lots to look forward to on the horizon,” said Tory Rushton, Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables and MLA for Cumberland South, on behalf of John Lohr, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “It’s crucial that we provide residents and business owners the infrastructure they need to continue to grow and thrive.”

The replacement of water mains and residential water service lines will address ongoing leaks and provide more reliable supply for residential use and fire protection for Foundry Street.

The Province will invest nearly $1.04 million in the project, with an additional $1.12 million coming from the Town of Oxford and other sources.

The project is part of the Municipal Capital Growth Program, a one-time $102-million investment in projects across Nova Scotia – a historic provincial investment in municipal infrastructure.
