Wastewater Infrastructure Funding for Inverness

Municipal Affairs and Housing
Municipal Capital Growth Program

Wastewater upgrades for Inverness County will help address household and business needs and support community growth.

“Inverness is getting this investment because it is a growing community that requires a system that can better handle its needs,” said Allan MacMaster, Minister of Finance and Treasury Board and MLA for Inverness, on behalf of John Lohr, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “This work will make room for new housing and allow businesses to expand when they need to.”

A lift station that handles wastewater from south of James Street and Highway 19 in the community of Inverness will be replaced and a new backup generator installed.

The new lift station will increase capacity, functionality and efficiency, and the generator will ensure the system works during power outages.

The Province and the Municipality of the County of Inverness will each invest more than $2.55 million in the project.

It is part of the Municipal Capital Growth Program, a one-time $102-million investment in projects across Nova Scotia – a historic provincial investment in municipal infrastructure.
