Funding to Upgrade Community Facilities in CBRM
Sydney and other communities in Cape Breton Regional Municipality will benefit from upgrades to facilities with provincial grants announced today, July 10.
“Community facilities provide spaces where residents of all ages can gather socially and engage in recreational activities and personal interests or hobbies,” said Brian Comer, Minister of Addictions and Mental Health and MLA for Cape Breton East, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “They also serve as places of support, offering comfort, reassurance and refuge during challenging times or moments of crisis.”
The U.A. Local 682 Building Committee Society, part of the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Welders, received funding to replace the roof of its building in Sydney. The society, established in 1946, has more than 930 members.
Club 55 Senior Citizens in downtown Sydney received funding for kitchen renovations and lighting upgrades. It has been offering social and recreational activities for seniors for more than 50 years.
