Premier Thanks Deputy for Service

Premier's Office

Premier Tim Houston thanked Clerk of the Executive Council and Deputy Minister Laura Lee Langley for her exceptional service to Nova Scotia today, May 16, as he accepted her retirement notice, effective June 30.

Ms. Langley is retiring after 27 years working for the Province of Nova Scotia.

“Laura Lee is an institution in the Nova Scotia government who is well respected by all who have worked with her. She distinguished herself with her tireless dedication to our province and all Nova Scotians,” said Premier Houston. “I believe I speak for many when I say that we greatly appreciate everything she has done. I thank her for her exemplary service.”

Ms. Langley began her career as a journalist in the early 1980s and worked in both radio and television as a reporter, anchor and producer. In the late 1990s, she transitioned to public relations and joined government. During her time in government, she has been known as a strong and effective leader who championed inclusivity and diversity.

She has served under eight premiers – spending 20 years as an associate deputy minister, then a deputy minister – and is the longest serving Clerk of the Executive Council in Canada, serving a total of eight years for three premiers.
