“The provincial grants we are announcing today are important to the residents of Kings County,” said John Lohr, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and MLA for Kings North, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “Upgrading spaces where the community comes together will benefit our community now and into the future.”

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts received funding for repairs and upgrades to the roof, kitchen floor and siding.

The Canning District Lions Club and the Valley Community Learning Association received grants to install heat pumps for better comfort and efficiency.

Funding for the Charles MacDonald House of Centreville Society will support repairs to the Hazelwood Gallery and other work to improve accessibility, ventilation and moisture control.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 in Kentville received a grant for a new generator, which will allow the facility to be used as a comfort centre during prolonged power outages.

More community grants will be announced across the province in the coming weeks.

Quotes:

“Ross Creek is so thrilled to be able to make some vital upgrades to our facilities thanks to the generous contribution of the Community Facilities Improvement Program. All of this funding goes directly into making Ross Creek a special and safe space for Nova Scotians of all ages, and ensuring we can continue to serve our province in and through arts and culture at the highest level. With renovations to our main programming building and to our accommodations, we are starting the next phase of Building the Future, a campaign to ensure Ross Creek is filling its vital role as a space that supports not just as a cultural organization, but as a linchpin in our community.”
— Chris O’Neill, Executive Director, Ross Creek Centre for the Arts
