Amendments to Nova Scotia Museum Act

Amendments to the Nova Scotia Museum Act introduced today, October 13, will include the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission board chair as a member of the Nova Scotia Museum board of governors.

“Adding the chair of the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission to the Nova Scotia Museum board of governors adds an important rural, locally managed museum voice to our provincial museum governance,” said Pat Dunn, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “This addition is another step in our commitment to helping agencies, boards and commissions operate efficiently and effectively.”

The changes were recommended by the government review of agencies, offices and Crown corporations completed this summer.

Quick Facts:

  • the chair will join the Nova Scotia Museum board effective January 1
  • located on the shores of the St. Mary’s River, Sherbrooke Village is an authentic heritage village, depicting a typical Nova Scotian village from 1860 to pre-First World War
  • Sherbrooke Village is the largest Nova Scotia Museum site
