Applications Open for Antlerless Deer Draw

Lands and Forestry (July 2018 - Aug. 2021)

Hunters can now apply for an antlerless deer hunting stamp for the 2021 hunting season. There are 5,175 antlerless deer hunting stamps available this year.

Stamps are available for zones 103, 104, 106, 108 and 110 in mainland Nova Scotia and zones 111 and 112 in Cape Breton. Antlerless deer stamps aren’t needed for zones 101, 102, 105, 107 or 109 because these zones are open to harvesting deer of either sex.

To be eligible, hunters must be a resident of Nova Scotia, be eligible for a deer hunting licence, have a valid Nova Scotia Wildlife Resources Card and be at least 16 years old by the end of the deer hunting season on Dec. 11.

Applications can be made online with a debit or credit card. The application fee is $9.25 (including HST). Applications can also be made by phone and require a credit card.

The application and additional information on the antlerless deer draw, including a detailed map of deer management zones, are available at: https://wrs.novascotia.ca/DeerDraw/

The deadline for applications is Aug. 20 at noon. Results will be posted online Sept. 1.

Quick Facts:

  • an antlerless deer hunting stamp permits hunters to harvest an antlerless deer in a specific deer management zone
  • an antlerless stamp does not increase the bag limit for the applicable season; the bag limit is one deer
  • an antlerless deer stamp must be accompanied by a general deer stamp, which is available for purchase
  • both types of stamps become valid when applied to a hunting licence with a wildlife habitat stamp
