Apply to Join an Agency, Board or Commission in 2021
April 18 to 24 is National Volunteer Week, the perfect time for Nova Scotians to apply to join an agency, board or commission.
Applications are open for groups that provide advice and services in a variety of areas, including health care, education, environment, culture and professional self-regulating bodies.
“Our volunteers are essential to our communities,” said Minister of the Voluntary Sector Suzanne Lohnes-Croft. “Joining an agency, board or commission is one way Nova Scotians can help others, improve their skills and have their voices heard on issues that are important to them.”
In order to increase the diversity of the agencies, boards and commissions, applications are encouraged from youth, women, Mi’kmaq and other Indigenous people, African Nova Scotians and other racially visible people, persons with disabilities, Acadian Nova Scotians, immigrants and newcomers, and persons from the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Quotes:
“I volunteer with the Nova Scotia agencies, boards and commissions because it gives me the opportunity to use my knowledge, skills and voice to directly impact important issues in our province."
– Miranda Romkey, Advisory Council on Heritage Property
