Mandate Letters Outline Action on Economy, Environment and Quality of Life
Mandate letters for all cabinet ministers are now available online.
The public release of these letters is in keeping with the Rankin government’s promise of accountability and transparency.
Mandate letters provide direction from the premier to all ministers and their departments.
“These letters reflect our bold and ambitious plan for Nova Scotia,” said Premier Iain Rankin. “Some of these actions can happen quickly and others will take more time, but we are excited to create a more sustainable, equitable and economically strong province.”
The letters outline the actions ministers are to take to help the province recover from COVID-19, and to create a fairer and more prosperous future for all Nova Scotians.
Nova Scotia entered the pandemic in a solid fiscal, demographic and economic position. The foundations are in place for the province to begin a new chapter with better opportunities for all Nova Scotians.
The mandate letters reflect plans to put people first, rebuild and grow the economy, and address the most pressing current issues, including the modernization of health care, action on climate change and environmental protection, and work to improve equity and address systemic racism.
They also reflect government’s commitment to fiscal sustainability. With affordability in mind, government will improve economic and social well-being and prepare Nova Scotians to fully participate in the workforce of the future, and new and better opportunities.
