Government Invests in Yarmouth Emergency Department
Government announced plans today, Oct. 22, to improve the emergency department at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
The province will invest $2.5 million over the next two years to complete facility assessments, site analysis and design development work.
“I’m pleased work is moving forward to redevelop the emergency department at Yarmouth Regional,” said Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Zach Churchill, on behalf of Health and Wellness Minister Leo Glavine. “These initial steps will lay the groundwork for improvements that will better serve patients in our region by exploring ways to modernize the emergency department to help address capacity, privacy and other issues.”
Assessments will focus on solutions to help address the volume of patients being seen in the emergency department, add extra privacy and accommodate more complex cases.
