Vendor Selected for Access to Information Portal

Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services (July 2019 - May 2023)

Nova Scotians will be able to safely and securely submit access to information requests online when a new case management system is implemented later this year.

AINS Inc., a leading provider of access to information solutions to the public sector, was the successful bidder in a request for proposals issued in May 2019.

“Nova Scotians want access to information to be easy, safe and secure,” said Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services Minister Patricia Arab. “That’s why we’ve taken the time to carefully select a vendor who has the experience to deliver this service successfully.”

When the new system goes live in the spring, applicants will be able to go online to file requests under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPOP), pay fees and receive response packages.

While the new system is developed, applicants can continue to submit FOIPOP requests by mail to:
Information Access and Privacy Services, Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services, 12th floor, 5161 George Street PO Box 72 Halifax, NS B3J 2L4

Quick Facts:

  • nearly 2,000 requests are filed annually under the FOIPOP Act
  • during 2018-19, there was an 84 per cent compliance rate for FOIPOP responses within the timelines established under the act and approximately 240,000 pages of records were reviewed
