Nova Scotia to Welcome Acadian World Congress in 2024

Nova Scotia has been chosen as the location of the seventh World Acadian Congress in 2024.

The event will be held Aug. 10 to 18 in the Acadian communities of Clare and Argyle, located in southwest Nova Scotia.

“The World Acadian Congress will highlight the numerous contributions of our Acadian and francophone communities to the economic, social and cultural fabric of Nova Scotia," said Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie. "It will serve to further strengthen Acadian culture and it will offer a unique opportunity to all Nova Scotians and visitors to learn more about this important part of our shared heritage.”

The theme of the 2024 congress is Venez vivre votre Acadie (Come Experience Your Acadia). Up to 100,000 participants are expected for the event.

This is the second time that Nova Scotia has hosted the congress. The first time was in 2004.

"Our bid committee is overjoyed that the Acadian region of southwest Nova Scotia has been chosen to host the Congrès mondial acadien in 2024,” said Natalie Robichaud, member of the southwest Nova Scotia bid committee. “You are all invited to come live your Acadie in our wonderful and welcoming region.
