March 2018 Summary Report on Climate Change

Auditor General

Auditor General Michael Pickup presented a summary report on the results from climate change audits undertaken by most legislative audit offices across Canada to the House of Assembly today, March 27.

As part of a collaborative project, the participating offices examined mitigation and adaptation initiatives to see whether governments have met their commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change.

The summary report is a compilation of results from audits that were carried out from 2016 to 2018. Each office determined the extent of audit work, period covered and reporting date.

The Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Office of the Auditor General of Canada, auditors general from some provinces, including Mr. Pickup, and a spokesperson on the territorial audits will hold a technical briefing via webinar at 2:30 p.m.
