Crown Attorney Appointed in Bridgewater
Matthew Kennedy has been appointed as a Crown attorney in the Bridgewater office.
Martin Herschorn, director of public prosecutions, announced the appointment today, Oct. 6.
"Mr. Kennedy's educational background and his enthusiasm for the work of criminal prosecutions will make him a valuable addition to our team," said Mr. Herschorn.
A native of Corner Brook, N.L., Mr. Kennedy graduated in 2003 from the University of King's College with a bachelor of arts in contemporary studies and in 2006 from the University of British Columbia with a master of arts in English literature. Mr. Kennedy graduated from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University in 2013.
He articled with the Corner Brook office of the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Justice, public prosecutions division. Since July, on occasion Mr. Kennedy has acted as a per diem Crown attorney for the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.
As a law student, Mr. Kennedy volunteered as a research assistant with the special prosecutions section of the Public Prosecution Service and with the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies, editing and evaluating submissions to the publication.
