Province Celebrates Newest Member of the Royal Family

Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant and Mrs. Joan Grant extend congratulations to Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their son today, July 22.

"We join the world in celebrating the arrival of the Royal Family's newest member and send our best wishes for health and happiness," said Lt.Gov Grant.

"A new baby is cause for celebration," said Premier Darrell Dexter. "I encourage the Royal Family to cherish every moment of this little one's life. On behalf of the Government of Nova Scotia and all Nova Scotians, it is my pleasure to send congratulations and best wishes on this joyous occasion."

The public is invited to sign the congratulatory message book available at Government House, 1451 Barrington St., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Aug. 31.

The Royal Family has kindly requested that members of the public wishing to honour the royal birth consider making a donation to a local children's charity or hospital in lieu of a gift. Government House will not be accepting gifts on the Royal Couple's behalf.
