Team Nova Scotia at 100 Days and Counting
NOTE: A roster for the swimming team follows this release.
In 100 days, more than 600 Nova Scotia athletes, coaches and managers will travel to Sherbrooke, Que., for the 2013 Canada Summer Games.
Over the next three months, athletes, coaches and managers will be doing their final training, 23 teams will be selected, and mission staff will work behind the scenes to ensure Team Nova Scotia is ready to participate in this national sporting event, Aug. 2-17.
"Although we're only 100 days away, Nova Scotia's athletes and coaching staff have been training for months," said Team Nova Scotia chef de mission Lynda Shoveller. "Our athletes are determined, focused and ready to compete. One of our first teams was recently selected in swimming, proof we’re officially on our way to creating a strong and competitive Team Nova Scotia."
The 2013 Canada Summer Games will have 4,200 athletes competing in 20 sports at 20 different venues.
The Canada Games are held every two years, alternating between summer and winter. They are key in developing Canada's young athletes, producing the next generation of national, international and Olympic champions.
The Team Nova Scotia website will be ready soon. The team is also on Twitter @TeamNovaScotia and Facebook at www.facebook.com/teamns.
