N.S. Company Wins Award at Boston Seafood Show

St. Mary's River Smokehouses, in Sherbrooke, Guysborough Co., won the "Best New Retail" award for their Oven Smoked Salmon Stix at the Boston Seafood Show on Sunday, March 10.

"Congratulations to St. Mary's River Smokehouses," said Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Sterling Belliveau. "Having a product chosen as the best new product is a big deal here at the show. This is another example of the high calibre of seafood products that Nova Scotia has to offer the world."

The winner was selected from a group of five finalists during a live judging by a panel of seafood buyers and experts from the retail and foodservice industries.

Finalists were selected through a screening of products participating in the 2013 International Boston Seafood Show New Product Showcase. The New Product Showcase features seafood products, condiments and culinary dishes launched in the past year by exhibiting companies.

The Seafood Excellence Awards serve to recognize the product leaders in the North American seafood market.
