Premier Congratulates Capers and Axemen on Representing AUS at Nationals

Premier Darrell Dexter is extending congratulations to the Cape Breton University Capers on winning the Atlantic University Sport men's basketball Championship in Halifax on Sunday, March 3.

The Capers defeated the Acadia Axemen 83-75 to secure the number two seed at the CIS championship in Ottawa this weekend. Acadia received a wild card entry.

"As a long-time basketball player and fan, I applaud the effort of these student athletes who have worked so hard to reach this stage and put their universities in the national spotlight," said Premier Dexter.

"I know all Nova Scotians are proud, especially those fans in Sydney and Wolfville, and we will all be cheering loudly when the teams take to the court in Ottawa this weekend."

Both the Capers and Axemen will be in action on Friday, March 8.
