Premier Thanks Outgoing MLA

Premier Darrell Dexter today, Jan. 22, thanked Clare MLA Wayne Gaudet for his years of service to the province and his constituents, and wished him all the best in the future.

Mr. Gaudet recently announced he will not run in the next provincial election.

"Wayne served the people of Clare and Nova Scotians honourably and in many different roles for more than 20 years," said Premier Dexter. "He was someone who could be counted on to co-operate and build consensus when we were both leaders of our respective parties.

"From a former cabinet minister, to deputy speaker to interim leader he always took his job seriously. The province thanks Wayne for his many years of public service and wishes him and his family all the best in the future."

Mr. Gaudet was first elected in 1993 and re-elected in 1998, 1999, 2003, 2006 and again in 2009.
