Deputy Premier Offers Condolences to the Family of Pat Connolly

Deputy Premier Frank Corbett, today Nov. 27, expressed sadness over the passing of well-known journalist Pat Connolly. Mr. Connolly died today at the age of 84.

"Pat was a great man with a passion for sports in Nova Scotia and across the Maritimes. He was a true gentleman who will be missed by all who had the opportunity to work with him over his 35 year career, said Mr. Corbett.

"I know Premier Dexter worked with Pat for many years and always spoke very highly of him. On behalf of Premier Dexter and the entire province, I offer sincere condolences to Pat's family during this difficult time."

Mr. Connolly began his journalism career in 1945 in his hometown of Sydney. He worked in newsrooms throughout the country including CBC Television as its first sports host in 1954. He was also the public address announcer for the Halifax Mooseheads for many years, retiring in 2009.
