Nova Scotia Short Film Screening

Film Nova Scotia and Empire Theatres are hosting a free screening of 11 local short films on Wednesday, Nov. 28 in Halifax.

The films, all from emerging filmmakers across Nova Scotia, were produced through various programs that Film Nova Scotia supports, including the CBC-Film Nova Scotia Bridge Award Program, the AFCOOP Film 5 program and the National Screen Institute Drama Prize program.

The following 11 short films will be screened:

  • Game, directed by Josh MacDonald and produced by Angus Swantee
  • When You Sleep, directed by Ashley McKenzie and produced by Nelson MacDonald and Martha Cooley
  • 210 Please Repeat, directed by Matt MacIsaac and produced by Mike Hall
  • Lucky, directed by Josh Denaro and produced by Jennifer Millington
  • Irene, directed by Vicky Donkin and produced by Colin Tanner
  • Torturous, directed by Angus Swantee and produced by Brent MacRae
  • Fridge Magnet Poetry, directed by Lara Cassidy and produced by Shauna Hatt
  • Deep End, directed by Bretten Hannam and produced by Rob Evong
  • First Words, directed by Fabien Melanson and produced by Simon Thibault
  • Sandwich Crazy, directed by Michael Doucette and produced by Evan Elliot
  • Those Forgotten, directed by Alyssa Buchanan and produced by Evan Jobb

The screening is at 7 p.m. at Empire Theatres Park Lane, 5657 Spring Garden Rd. Some of the filmmakers will be in attendance to take questions at the end of the screening.

Film Nova Scotia-Empire Theatres Screening Nights are held three times a year to allow local audiences to see homegrown productions and to provide local filmmakers with a venue to promote their work.
