Board Appointments Announced

Denise King has been appointed to the Waterfront Development Corporation board of directors, the province announced today, Oct. 10. Bernie O'Rourke has been reappointed for another term.

"These board members have made significant contributions to the business community and bring valuable experience," said Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris. "Waterfront Development has multiple development projects underway and oversees two of the most visited destinations in Nova Scotia -- the Halifax and Lunenburg waterfronts. They are important economic drivers for our province, and will help grow our economy."

Ms. King is director of market analysis, planning and support, with Amirix Systems Inc. Amirix, through its Vemco line of products, is the world leading supplier of acoustic transmitters and receivers used by marine biologists to study aquatic animals.

Ms. King joined Amirix in 1993 and has held a variety of engineering and management roles. The Halifax resident is a member of the Amirix senior management team.

Bernie O'Rourke joined I.M.P. Group International Inc. in 1986 and serves as senior vice-president and chief legal officer.

Mr. O'Rourke is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, Canadian Bar Association, Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Canada.
