Premier Expresses Condolences on Passing of Raylene Rankin

Premier Darrell Dexter offered his condolences to the family and friends of Raylene Rankin, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, after a battle with cancer. She was 52.

Raylene Rankin was a founding member of Cape Breton's famed Rankin Family.

"I've known Raylene for years, and she was always such a talented, lovely person; spirited and full of life," said Premier Dexter. "My deepest sympathies go out to her friends, her fans, and the entire Rankin family. She inspired so many people, and her music will forever be a part of Nova Scotia's soundtrack."

Ms. Rankin and her four siblings, John Morris, Jimmy, Cookie and Heather, formed the Cape Breton Celtic music group more than 20 years ago and went on to win a host of awards.
