Experience Titanic History, Commemorative Events Online
Titanic commemorative events in Halifax will be streamed live this weekend on the internet at www.titanic.gov.ns.ca , the Titanic in Nova Scotia website.
"We encourage everyone to attend the free events in the Grand Parade on Saturday and at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Sunday," said David Wilson, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. "People from around the world, across the country and in our province will be able to watch the events live through online streaming on the Internet."
Website visitors can watch the Titanic Eve - Night of the Bells event Saturday, April 14, in the Grand Parade online from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Hosted by Canadian icon Gordon Pinsent, Titanic Eve - Night of the Bells will tell the story of Titanic, its passengers and crew, and the role of Halifax in the recovery operations. More than 20 performers will the take stage and large LED screens will display a moving narrative.
On Sunday, April 15, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., website visitors can watch the Titanic Spiritual Ceremony at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Members of the Girls Guides of Canada, Boy Scouts of Canada and sea cadets will place flowers on the grave sites of Titanic victims. A maple tree will be planted as part of the interfaith memorial service.
The Titanic in Nova Scotia website also features searchable, high-resolution images of 100 Titanic-related artifacts and records and a map of locations of interest in Nova Scotia.

Titanic on Twitter, a special Twitter project, will issue the wireless messages from the tragedy in real time, as they would have been sent by, and received from, Titanic, the Marconi wireless station in Cape Race, N.L. and other ships sailing in the area during that time span in 1912.
Tweets noting iceberg warnings around the site of the sinking of Titanic began April 12. On Saturday, April 14, at 11:44 p.m. the first distress call from the Titanic will be issued.
