Film Nova Scotia Announces Senior Management Changes

Film Nova Scotia president and CEO Ann MacKenzie is leaving the organization, Film Nova Scotia announced today, March 21. Carolyn Horton, current director of finance for Film Nova Scotia, will act as interim CEO.

"Ann's passion and leadership during the past 14 years has been a benefit to Nova Scotia's film industry on the international stage," said Cheryl Hodder, chair of the board of directors. "Her knowledge of financing, marketing and distribution for the film and television industry has been a huge asset for Nova Scotia."

Ms. MacKenzie's last day with the organization will be Friday, March 30. The board of directors will establish a recruitment committee to find a new president and CEO.

"Film Nova Scotia has benefitted significantly from Ann's experienced leadership in many areas of management, including strategic planning, financial management, policy development and implementation," said Ms. Hodder. "We thank Ann for her many contributions and wish her continued success."

Ms. Horton will ensure a seamless transition as interim CEO. Carolyn is a chartered accountant and has been with Film Nova Scotia for five years. Before that, she was controller with Nova Scotia Business Inc.

Film Nova Scotia is a provincial Crown corporation reporting to the Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism. The corporation provides a wide range of programs and services to support the province's audiovisual industry. Nova Scotia is among the largest production centres in Canada.
