Premier Encourages Nova Scotians to be Good Water Stewards
Water is one of nature's most valuable resources, and it needs protection and care.
Canadians are celebrating the second annual Canada Water Week today, March 19 to March 25, and World Water Day on March 22.
"We are blessed with an abundance of clean, fresh water in Nova Scotia, but we can't afford to take our water for granted," said Premier Darrell Dexter. "Canada Water Week reminds us that we need to work together to protect our water supply now and for our children and grandchildren."
Canada Water Week was launched by the Council of the Federation last year. This year's theme is Celebrating and Conserving Water across Our Country.
This summer, Nova Scotia will host a meeting of the council, which includes all 13 provincial and territorial premiers.
The province will mark Canada Water Week by releasing a progress report on Water For Life, a 10-year framework for water management in Nova Scotia, and by sharing other information on water.
