Provincial Funding Helps Mulgrave Company Compete Globally
A Mulgrave-based metal fabrication shop will use a provincial investment for upgrades to increase productivity and help the company compete internationally.
Mulgrave Machine Works Ltd. will receive $96,541 through the Productivity Investment Program (PIP) to update equipment and train workers.
"It's great to see longstanding Nova Scotia companies continue to grow and succeed with the help of the province's jobsHere plan to grow the economy," said Premier Darrell Dexter, who toured the company today, March 16. "By taking the initiative to advance the business through innovative technologies and global expansion, Mulgrave Machine Works is ensuring it will be a competitive force for many years to come."
Under PIP's Capital Investment Incentive, the company will receive $85,791 for a new metal cutting machine, allowing specialized design cutting with more control and accuracy. The equipment will be used to meet the needs of clients in Canada, Cuba and Brazil.
Mulgrave Machine Works will also receive $10,750 from PIP's Workplace Innovation and Productivity Skills Incentive for training to manage human resources more effectively.
"We recognize the need for innovation and efficiency in order to compete globally in the metal fabrication industry," said Sean Reid, general manager of Mulgrave Machine Works. "With help from the PIP program, we have been able to invest in the capital needed to become more productive and competitive."
Mulgrave Machine Works is a full-service metal fabrication shop offering a variety of design and fabrication services to oil and gas, forestry, marine, fishing and environmental businesses. It has been operating for more than 40 years, and employs 45 people.
The PIP program provides financial incentives to encourage businesses to become more productive, innovative and globally competitive by supporting capital investments through the Capital Investment Incentive, as well as workplace training and certification through the Workplace Innovation and Productivity Skills Incentive.
