Applications Open for Scholarships, Bursaries
The province is recognizing Nova Scotia students who are making an impact in their schools and communities with 70, $2,000 scholarships and bursaries.
This year, there will be 60 Diamond Jubilee scholarships for graduating students as well as 10 Power of Positive Change awards for students in grades primary to 12.
"Our students work hard all year, and are doing great things in communities all across the province," said Education Minister Ramona Jennex. "The scholarships and bursaries are an excellent opportunity for students to continue their amazing work beyond high school graduation."
For this year only, in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, 60 commemorative scholarships, one for each year of Her Majesty's reign, will be awarded to Grade 12 students who have demonstrated leadership and made significant contributions to their communities and the province. The recipients will receive a $2,000 scholarship, which must be applied to a post-secondary educational opportunity, and a certificate of recognition.
The deadline for applications is May 4 and the award recipients will be announced June 8. For more information, and to download the application package, visit http://diamondjubilee.ednet.ns.ca/ .
