Medal of Bravery Nominations Open

Nova Scotians can show their appreciation for people who have put themselves at risk to protect the life or property of others.

Nominations are open for Nova Scotia's Medal of Bravery. This is the fifth year for the award.

"This award is our opportunity to thank everyday heroes for their extraordinary courage and selflessness," said Premier Darrell Dexter. "If you know someone who deserves to be recognized, please take the time to nominate them."

Nomination forms are available at Access Nova Scotia Centres, offices of members at the legislative assembly and at www.gov.ns.ca/bravery. The deadline to nominate a Nova Scotian for the award is May 1.

An advisory panel, chaired by retired vice-admiral Duncan Miller, will select the recipients.

  • deputy minister of Justice
  • Nova Scotia Fire Marshall
  • president of the Nova Scotia Chiefs of Police Association
  • commander of Land Force Atlantic Area
  • Ann MacLean, former mayor, Town of New Glasgow
  • Paul Pettipas, CEO Nova Scotia Home Builders Association
