Premier Appoints Deputy Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism
Premier Darrell Dexter today, Jan. 12, announced the appointment of Simon d'Entremont as deputy minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism.
Mr. d'Entremont, a native of West Pubnico, has more than 15 years experience working for the federal government. He was regional director general in the Atlantic region for Health Canada and regional director at Industry Canada, Atlantic region. He has also held a number of positions with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. He began his career in the private sector as stock broker with Scotia McLeod Inc.
"Simon has a proven track record of getting things done and is recognized for his exceptional leadership, team building and communications skills," said Premier Dexter. "Simon's background and can-do attitude will be critically important over the next few years as government continues to move forward with its commitment to create good jobs and grow the economy throughout the province."
Mr. d'Entremont will begin in his new position Jan. 23. He replaces Sandra McKenzie, who was appointed deputy minister of Labour and Advanced Education.
