Community Counts Website Now Available in French

Community Counts, a popular online resource which paints a portrait of the unique nature of communities in the province, is now available in French.

Collectivités en chiffres provides single-point access to comprehensive French-language information for and about communities in Nova Scotia. The new website is available at www.gov.ns.ca/finance/communitycounts/fr .

"Community Counts has been an important resource for business, government, students, and individuals," said Graham Steele, Minister of Finance and Minister of Acadian Affairs. "I'm pleased that this site is now available in French. By improving French-language services, we are making life better for Acadian and francophone Nova Scotians."

Community Counts, a program of the Department of Finance, provides the public with access to socio-economic information about Nova Scotia including demographics, labour, income, and health.

Main sections of the Community Counts website, including the homepage, community profiles, brochure, and frequently asked questions, have been translated.

"We are very happy to have contributed towards making this Web site available in French," said Ronald Robichaud, president of la Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse. "Our member organizations and the community at large will benefit from being able to access pertinent data on various subjects which will assist them in their work."

"It's important for Acadians and francophones to find information on their communities and the province," said Julie Oliver, executive director of le Conseil de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse. "This government initiative will provide access to community statistics to our Acadian community in their language."

The Department of Finance will work with Acadian Affairs, la Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse, and le Conseil de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse to develop French-language training for Collectivités en chiffres.
