Premier Congratulates Federal Government on New Military Designations

Premier Darrell Dexter congratulated the federal government for restoring the names of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force.

"I commend the federal government for reconnecting today's men and women in uniform with the proud history before them," said Premier Dexter, who is also Minister responsible for Military Relations. "Nova Scotia is home to much of that history thanks to the dedication and sacrifice of the Canadian Armed Forces across the province and across the country."

Last year, Nova Scotia hosted a number of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy.

Today, CFB Halifax is the largest military base in Canada.
