Film Nova Scotia Announces Board Appointments
Film Nova Scotia welcomes three new members to its board of directors.
Gary Walsh from Cape Breton has been involved in the cultural sector throughout his career as an educator, actor, director and festival organizer. Mr. Walsh has worked with various theatre companies across the province and is the founder of the Cabot Trail Writers Festival. Having directed the original production of Rise and Follies of Cape Breton Island, Mr. Walsh will bring a wealth of industry experience to the board.
Ed Towle from Seabright will provide the board with valuable operational experience as he has served as a board member on the Nova Scotia Municipal Finance Corporation along with many other industry and community organizations. Mr. Towle is a retired accountant who has been a partner in a national accounting practice and has had his own private practice.
David Ferns from Cookville, Lunenburg Co., is a long time educator who has worked as a university lecturer, school teacher and administrator. Mr. Ferns brings to the board a wealth of community experience. He has been a member of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union for more than thirty years and is active in his community as a soccer coach and a member of various local organizations.
"The unique experiences that Gary, Ed and David bring to the Board will be extremely valuable to Film Nova Scotia," said Cheryl Hodder, Film Nova Scotia chair. "They will be a great fit with our board members, an engaged group of people who are enthusiastic about Nova Scotia's film industry and eager to see it grow."
Each director has been appointed by the Governor in Council for a three-year term.
Film Nova Scotia is a provincial Crown corporation reporting to the Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism. The corporation provides a wide range of programs and services to support the province's audiovisual industry.
