Minister Fills Vacancies at Two School Boards

Vacant positions on the Tri County Regional School Board and the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial have been filled.

Education Minister Ramona Jennex has appointed Emmanuel Nahimana, representing Halifax, and Louise Marchand, representing Richmond, to Conseil scolaire acadien provincial. Brian Noble will represent District 6 in the Town of Yarmouth on the Tri-County Regional School Board.

"These appointed members bring considerable experience to their positions,"said Ms. Jennex. "I wish them well as serve their community and the students of Nova Scotia's public education system."

Mr. Nahimana is the co-ordinator of volunteer programs for the Fédération Acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse. He is completing his graduate degree in Education with a focus on cultural diversity in minority situations.

Ms. Marchand is a retired teacher and former principal from Richmond County and has been a member of various boards and committees in the Petit de Grat community.

Mr. Noble is a retired teacher in Yarmouth County and has been involved in municipal government for 10 years.

The minister can appoint a replacement to a board when there is a vacancy with six months to two years remaining in the term. The appointees will serve until the next municipal elections in October 2012. New members will be sworn in at the next board meetings.
